The most common way of reaching La Siesta is by car. On the one hand thats due to the fact that a car is needed in order to be mobile enough to do everything you might want, and on the other hand the car is one of the cheapest ways to travel if you divde the cost by the amount of persons (even with the currently high gas prices and toll charges). But traveling by car got real competition in the newly risen "inexpensive airlines".

For quite a while these airlines offer Barcelona (about 55 miles away) and Gerona (about 20 miles away) as destination. So its possible to get flights for very low prices.

• Air Berlin to Barcelona starting at 29,- €

• EasyJet offers flights to Barcelona at 18,- €

• Germanwings to Barcelona starting at 19,- €

Additional Airlines are surely joining this new market and even some "standard airlines" already did. For example we suggest you to take a look at Airline Direct .

Appart from that there are several Airlines that offer inexpensive charterflights to Gerona.

Another possible way is to travel by bus. These often provide a very cheap method of traveling to Lloret de Mar (about 4 miles away). But be aware that this isnt exactly the fastest way of traveling and in terms of being comfortable there are better alternatives as well.

In the end we suggest to make sure that at least one car is available. Either by being a part of the travelgroup that arived by car or by using a rented car at one of the local car rental companies which cost around 20 € per day.

There are several reasons why a car is a good thing to have around here, for one the beach is around 1000 meters away , the nearest towns require a 4 mile ride and last but not least the many possible targets for sight seeing tours pretty much require a car to be reachable.

A few hints for arrival by car:

Once you reach Spain (coming from france) you are on the highway A2. If you follow it for about 65 miles you should reach the gateway Costa Brava - Lloret/Tossa/Blanes. That's where you leave the highway.

Then allways towards Lloret de Mar. Once you reach Lloret you drive on towards Tossa de Mar (if you enter Blanes turn around because you drove into the wrong direction ;) ) About 4 miles after you left Lloret you should see a sign "URB. Canyelles" on the right side and a small wall showing "La Siesta". Turn right and drive on for around 70 metres till you see us on the left side.
